Welcome to Posting from the Post Apocalypse. For the most part, my blog focuses attention on the most dire concerns about climate change — the ones, in short, that could lead to apocalyptic change. Much of the most sobering climate change news doesn’t get coverage in mainstream media, or gets buried under the daily barrage of other developments. The content for PFTPA comes from the work of scientists, scientific journals, websites devoted to environmental concerns, or other sources of sound information. In almost every instance, I provide a summary of the news and a link to the source(s). If you want to think of climate change as a prism, I’m refracting the darkest shades because the most alarming news is routinely overlooked or ignored. If you want so-called solutions, by all means find bloggers or authors more attuned to providing psychic comfort. I am openly skeptical that there are any solutions that will be embraced before climate change causes ever-more severe disruptions to the planet and its creatures. But I also feel the first step toward dealing with the worst crisis in human history is to understand the gravity of what we’re facing. So no Pollyannaish proposals here. Just some of what I think is essential to grasping the enormity of our challenge.
