May I suggest a ”suggestion box” for the Kootenay Network?

At this stage of development of the system, users (bloggers, members, editors) may have some valuable suggestions… could keep things lively, and help to keep things evolving.

If there were an on-line form with space to write something (say, limited to a certain number of characters) that would be great. If the form/page had some sort of categorization option – like boxes you could check so the suggestion could easily be fielded by the right person(s) at Seed – I believe that would make it more practical at the receiving end.

    What do you say?

I think that, or something like it, is a great idea, Joel.

Inviting bloggers, members and editors to submit their ideas can only help to keep the site organic and relevant in the Kootenay region. Perhaps a forum/group where ideas can be flushed out and batted around would be interesting and productive.

Of course, we’re not at the wheel in an administrative or technical way at inthekoots so some of our ideas may be difficult or near impossible to accomplish, but it never hurts to ask.

I’ve met some great people through inthekoots. Those connections bring me face to face with others in our community that I never would have met otherwise. If the site is going to continue to grow and flourish it only makes sense to include the members who use the site to help shape its future.

Thanks for replying, Jim. And I appreciate the support for the idea.

    Hi Joel:
The rumours are true, we do have a new office. The location is upstairs above Pack Rat Annies and first door on the left. (I have no idea what the actual address is!) The location is terrific, being above Fusion and across the street from the Kootenay Co-op and BC Wine Guys :) . The space serves as HQ for both Inthekoots and The Seed and any and all are welcome to stop by and check it out. Our editors are all welcome to come and work at our communal desk (Bradley’s dining room table) and use the wi-fi.

      Thanks, Julia.

Thanks also to Seed for extending the invitation to the editors.

    Not sure ”what’s new?”… So I’m posting here…

Is it true that the Seed (Yellowseed) folks got a new office? I seem to have seen passing reference to that, but haven’t found a link telling anything about it.

I’ve just launched my new web business selling audio recordings of my children’s stories on http://www.onceuponabedtime.com
Check it out! It’s all home made in Nelson and the Slocan – I’m the author, narrator, and (novice) web-deisigner, and local artist and yoga teacher Mahila Gauthier-Dupont did the illustrations and Matthew Golden did the sound production. And what an amazing job they did.

    Love to get feedback.

      Hi Natasha,
Had a quick look at the site, and while the content looks good, the pages overflow the screen laterally/side to side. I am using Vista with Internet Explorer, and I have to use the horizontal slider bar to view the full screen content. How’s the big feller?
      Steve

        Thanks Steven,
On my screen it fits within the screen – can you reduce the screen size on yours?
I appreciate the feedback though – I will see if there is anything this end I can do to help that.
        Whose the ’big feller’?

      Hi, Natasha.
No problems on my screen. The pictures are beautiful and the stories look like they’re very charming.
      Best of luck with this!

Thank you Diana. It’s very exciting to get it up finally, and I just made my first sale! YAY!

Hi. I’d like to suggest that we participants in The Kootenay Network blogging system take some time to write a little bit about ourselves in the ”Profile” window (which comes up with an ”edit” choice for us). Can be just a short sentence – or a few. I think this could facilitate connections amongst people in real life.

For myself, Iwouldn’t mind a bit of mentoring here and there. I’m thinking profiles would help us to identify ”resource people” – and they would help us to do this a quicker than just by reading the person’s blog. (Our blog posts are strung like beads, a couple hundred or few hundred words here and ther over time. A good profile can convey the kernal of our interests, skills, and life experience succintly.)

Eventually, we may have the option to add ”categories” or ”tags” to our profiles, which would assist us TKN bloggers to SEARCH and find people on the basis of shared-interest keywords.
